New York Comic Con 2024 Guide: Tickets, Dates & Panels
Comic-Con Special Guest Joe Jusko has provided the cover art for the 2024 publication. Many conventions have video rooms in which genre-related audiovisual presentations occur, typically commercial Hollywood movies, genre television show episodes, and anime. Larger conventions may also have a genuine movie room, for presentation of actual movies on film instead of video. Evening entertainment often includes a combination of official and unofficial events, including formal invitational dinners, and fandom-themed room parties.
The top ten New York Comic Con events 2016
The New York Comic Con is an annual New York City fan convention dedicated to Western comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, cosplay,4 toys, movies, and television. It was first held in 2006.5 With an attendance of 200,000 in 2022, it is North America’s most attended fan convention. The New York Comic Con is a for-profit event produced and managed by ReedPop, a division of RX and Reed Elsevier, and is not affiliated with the long running non-profit San Diego Comic-Con, nor the Big Apple Convention, later known as the Big Apple Comic-Con, owned by Wizard Entertainment. There are also workshops, that are like panels but are more geared towards instructions through a major or specific task such as how to draw comics, or use industry-specific software. Another event at most comic book conventions include screenings of movies and TV shows that can last through the day. The main exhibit hall, which includes larger well-recognized companies, takes up halls F through A.

During the early days of comic book conventions, there was little or no distinction made between the “pros” and the “fans”. (After all, many professionals began as fans, and may still consider themselves fans; and more than a few fans have also worked professionally or semi-professionally in the field.) Nowadays, other than in the so-called “Artist Alleys”, there is more of a caste system among professionals and enthusiasts. Sponsors often receive additional items such as T-shirts, pins, or ribbons, as well as faster registration badge pick-up and on-site meals.101 They may also be displayed prominently in convention publications. Starting during the mid-2000s, ongoing comic book conventions were organized in most major U.S. cities, most of which are still ongoing.

The “Artists’ Alley” in the exhibit hall also features dozens of rising creators selling art prints, comics, toys, books, collectibles and more. With the highly anticipated release of “ Deadpool & Wolverine,” Marvel is set to be a strong presence, from the costumes fans don to the panels that draw the longest lines. The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led feature is the first and only Disney-backed Marvel movie of the year. The panel promoting the film and celebrating its release Thursday is expected to draw thousands to the convention’s famed Hall H. 2024’s exclusive content will focus on a number COMIC CON SCOTLAND of anniversary celebrations. In addition, the Souvenir Book includes a “Yearbook” section, featuring bios and photos of all of Comic-Con 2024’s Special Guests, a look back at 2023’s awards, and a special “In Memoriam” section.
An important distinction can be made between commercial events (often called “shows”) – those managed by dedicated companies who specialize in convention organization, or by local for-profit businesses – and volunteer-run conventions. Comic book conventions spread to Canada and Switzerland in 1985; also debuting that year was the United Kingdom Comic Art Convention (UKCAC), first held September 21–22, 1985, at the University of London Union.
